Chad Hayes 😂
3:21 PM
Eberth Gamarra what's the book?
3:21 PM
Timothy Deniston I'm going to guess this talk got rejected for Knowledge 25? lol
3:21 PM
Iain Bisset ServiceNow Development Handbook
3:21 PM
Charles Palma Flow Designer vs Business Rule vs Something Else ...
3:22 PM

3:22 PM
3:24 PM
Chad Hayes PREACH
3:24 PM
Valerie Ott 👏 😂
3:24 PM
Han S Yup the version history fiannly got mentioned
3:24 PM
Tim Bremm Flow has deleted my work so many times *shakes fist*
3:24 PM
Eberth Gamarra No joke! lol
3:25 PM
Robert Fedoruk Tim Woodruff.
3:25 PM
Chad Hayes lol
3:25 PM
Han S 😂
3:25 PM
Ben Scherer We are all the kids in Willy Wonka trying not to die in the SN Sugar factory
3:25 PM
Patrick Rycraft Hmmmmm
3:26 PM
Trey Carroll The only reason I use flows is from catalog items that require lots of subflows... I have found that legacy flows have some type of inherent limitation, so I launch FD subflows from a legacy flow and then do the lifting with Script activities as much as possible.
3:26 PM
Chad Hayes I'm off to talk to my therapeutic rubber ducky.
3:26 PM
Diogo Ramos 😄
3:26 PM
Chris Schuh haha - grIncident
3:26 PM
Charles Palma why I use Flow <- runtime data is easier to view
3:26 PM
Chris Schuh always grTableName for me
3:27 PM
Eberth Gamarra That's why I only use SCRAPIs and Portal, not the useless UIBuilder
3:27 PM
Willem Zeiler notgr.query()
3:27 PM
Mike Gomez I get the performance message, but at least flows have an explicit mapping between an event and the code that should handle it. There are so many potential ways for code to get called on SN.
3:27 PM
Robert Fedoruk More perspectives from Tim Woodruff on CJ&TheDuke
3:27 PM
Robert Fedoruk Sillypants Magilicutty 😮
3:28 PM
Chad Hayes ^CJ & The Duke is better than the ServiceNow podcast.
3:28 PM
Iain Bisset I name all my gliderecord variables as queryMcQueryface
3:28 PM
Chuck Tomasi Sounds like a good use case for a join.
3:29 PM
James Neale Caching keys FTW
3:29 PM
Eberth Gamarra wait, so are you saying to do like a headless design where you exported the list of a query and then the action?
3:29 PM
John Dahl RLQUERY can help in many situations too
3:29 PM
Arnoud Kooi Jometimes a RL query is a nice performant option
3:29 PM
Kalisha Moore every session i've attended let me know i've only dipped about 2 toes into the sea of sn development but im glad i'm at least able to follow along.
3:29 PM
Willem Zeiler I read this too quick😂
3:30 PM
Patrick Rycraft Big fan of Encoded Queries myself
3:30 PM
Arnoud Kooi Great minds 😉
3:30 PM
Patrick Rycraft I remember when I first learned of 'em and I got the anime stars in eyes Whoooooaaaaaa
3:30 PM
Patrick Rycraft You mean I don't need like 18 AddQuery entries? yay!
3:31 PM
Charles Palma Sillypants Magilicutty
3:32 PM
Jeff Limones this session feels very Professor Messer-like which is awesome!
3:32 PM
Trey Carroll Big O notation on scripts dashboard anyone?
3:33 PM
Chad Hayes please tell this to platform analytics
3:33 PM
Eberth Gamarra I don't think we get to the point to use Big O notations
3:33 PM
John Dahl I'm picturing the professor using the same hand gestures when he records responses to questions in the community because the question was too silly to write out a novel response.
3:34 PM
Javier Arroyo thats the idea behind scripting in SN. everyone adds everything to one SI
3:34 PM
John Dahl One place for all logic related to a record type or process!
3:34 PM
Chad Hayes keep going!
3:34 PM
Han S I need this session to last for another one hour
3:35 PM
Trey Carroll Keep going!
3:35 PM
James McGaha also SUBQUERY (for nesting related queries) and JOIN (for including within an OR condition or joining on a column other than sys_id)!
3:35 PM
John Dahl GO GO GO
3:35 PM
Willem Zeiler Yammer away!
3:35 PM
Patrick Rycraft Something something zboot
3:35 PM
Eberth Gamarra GoGoGoGo
3:35 PM
Oleg Polukeyev '+1
3:35 PM
Tommy Sønderstgaard Vølcker
3:35 PM
Tim Bremm Can we just hate on FD some more? It's so cathartic haha
3:35 PM
Javier Arroyo Tim is using the incorrect letters NQ i think he means another acronym. hehehe
3:35 PM
Willem Zeiler Fun fact: Buying at least 3 of his books will 3x your query performance
3:36 PM
Patrick Rycraft I read 'buying' as 'bullying' for a moment.
3:36 PM
Willem Zeiler *Safe harbour
3:36 PM
Patrick Rycraft I was like Wait, buy the books and..yell at them? 'Your typeface is egregious, and your margins make me weep!'
3:36 PM
Mikhail Isaev addExtraField
3:37 PM
Chad Hayes parent.parent.parent.sys_id
3:37 PM
Niko Sääski Does it already work in scoped apps?
3:37 PM
Eberth Gamarra How good are his books? I have not read him yet
3:37 PM
John Dahl how does `gr.addExtraField()` impact performance? Does that only grab the one field?
3:37 PM
Diogo Ramos Don't think so
3:37 PM
Patrick Rycraft If you're querying that many levels up from a given table, you need to attack the problem a different way imo.
3:37 PM
Chad Hayes lol
3:37 PM
Daniel Evans Excellent; get the 4th edition. They build on each other.
3:38 PM
Eberth Gamarra is there a 5th edition coming up?
3:38 PM
Eberth Gamarra Does he focus in the developer aspect?
3:38 PM
Daniel Evans Probably eventually, but he just released V4 a few months ago. Yes the whole book is developer focused.
3:39 PM
Tim Bremm Tim-OH-theee
3:39 PM
Michael Derhammer Preeesent!
3:39 PM
Eberth Gamarra Thanks for the insights!
3:40 PM
Tim Bremm This guy gets it
3:40 PM
Chad Hayes pretty big when you have like 1.2 mil records on a table.
3:40 PM
Eberth Gamarra I like he's saying facts! I'd never hear avoid Flow Designer in a Knowledge event but he is actually splitting the facts
3:41 PM
Tim Bremm Please don't go back onto Flow (unless we're hating on it, again, see above lol)
3:41 PM
Patrick Rycraft I miss Workflow tbh. FlowDesigner is cool but I've been burned too many times.
3:42 PM
Chad Hayes I think getRowCount is getting flagged on health scans now.
3:42 PM
John Dahl I think I've over 500 in the FD burn rate
3:42 PM
Chad Hayes it did for us at least.
3:42 PM
John Dahl as it should
3:42 PM
Tim Bremm GlideAggregaaattteeeeee
3:42 PM
Valerie Ott 👏
3:42 PM
Kshitij Tripathi setNoCount is a new method I discovered recently .. I see that it skips count query
3:43 PM
Jace Benson 🪵🪵🪵
3:43 PM
John Dahl var numberOfRecords = new GlideQuery.parse( tableName, encodedQuery ).count()
3:43 PM
Chad Hayes AI does it
3:43 PM
Javier Arroyo GR.log 🙂
3:43 PM
Jonathan Gombas Monster
3:43 PM
Iain Bisset If AI does it, it must be fine
3:44 PM
Kshitij Tripathi GlideQuery is a wrapper over GlideRecord and it does invoke additional query to count the number of rows
3:44 PM
Tim Bremm I can't stand how gs.debug is globally controlled. Need to debug a small process? Be prepared to see a zillion irrelevant debug logs lol
3:44 PM
Chad Hayes at least it makes it easy to spot AI generated code
3:44 PM
Brad Hicks AI is Sillypants Magillicutty
3:44 PM
Daniel Evans Thanks, Tim! Great as always
3:44 PM
Shawn Dowler 👏
3:44 PM
Nick Voss this has been super helpful, thank you Tim
3:44 PM
Michael Derhammer 👏
3:44 PM
Chad Hayes thanks Tim!
3:44 PM
John Dahl Thanks TIM!
3:44 PM
Tim Bremm NiceError() is also great, gives you a detailed stacktrace
3:44 PM
Niko Sääski Thanks Tim!
3:44 PM
Kalisha Moore 👏
3:44 PM
Brad Hicks Thank you!!!
3:44 PM
Terry Toney Thanks Tim!
3:44 PM
Michaela Doil Thanks!
3:44 PM
Pavel Zifcak 👏
3:44 PM
Tommy Sønderstgaard Vølcker
3:44 PM
Iain Bisset 👏
3:44 PM
Tommy Sønderstgaard Vølcker Wait a minute why wait. Filter 🙂
3:44 PM
Melanie Brady Thank you for ranting!
3:44 PM
Eberth Gamarra Back to sleep\
3:44 PM
Tommy Sønderstgaard Vølcker 👏 Thanks Tim
3:45 PM
Eberth Gamarra Hey Tim, could reply my QA
